About Kate...

Our yard is 'home-from-home' for all of our members, we have a real family atmosphere.

Kate Walsh is well known in the area, with over 45 years’ experience with horses, from breeding to competing. Kate has extensive experience in dealing with problem/difficult horses, and breaking and bringing on youngsters. As well as having a successful show jumping and working hunter career, including being European SJ and WH Appaloosa Champion 1995, and WH Finalist at Wembley in 1992, Kate has enjoyed many years as a successful breeder. As one of the only Appaloosa breeders in the area, Kate’s stallions Dirk’s Orion and Orion’s Cinnabar have enjoyed successful careers and produced some excellent offspring. See ‘Stallions’ page for more information. Kate is extremely approachable and always willing to help with any queries or problems. However, she is renowned for being rather messy with a paintbrush – so steer clear if you see her holding one!

Welcome to Chelworth Fields Livery

Chelworth Fields Livery Yard was established in 1985 by local rider and breeder Kate Walsh, who has over 35 years’ experience in all aspects of horse management.

Situated just outside Cricklade – in between Swindon and Cirencester – we pride ourselves on our extremely fun, friendly and laid back, yet professional atmosphere. We welcome riders and horses of all ages and abilities – from children with Shetlands to serious adult competitors.

All aspects of equestrianism should be fun, and we strongly believe in nurturing our sport at the grass roots, which is why we are particularly child-friendly at Chelworth Fields, and adopt a very encouraging and supportive environment. We’re always proud to see how our members progress, gain confidence and achieve results.
